Since July 2017, the InnoCrush Project has been being implemented at TU Bergakademie Freiberg by an interdisciplinary research group, which consists of 11 junior researchers and 6 professors from 6 institutes of TU Bergakademie Freiberg. The project is aimed at the reduction of energy and material costs by increasing the selectivity along the strategic raw materials production chain with a focus on small deposits – such as those found in Saxony in the Erzgebirge. Here, a holistic approach is pursued: from extraction, through processing and automation, to the economic and environmental review, flanked by mineralogy and numerical modeling. One part of the project is the investigation of the cutting force mapping approach for selective rock extraction as well as the activated hard rock cutting technology.
